  • Incurable disease
rdfs:comment
  • An incurable disease was a medical condition for which the remedy had yet to be discovered. An incurable disease could also be a terminal illness, but not necessarily. In 2368, attempting to get William T. Riker to see things from a paralyzed Worf's point of view, Jean-Luc Picard asked Riker whether he would see death as a release if he were diagnosed with an incurable, terminal illness that would leave him in pain for the rest of his life. Riker felt the comparison was unfair, as Worf's condition was neither killing him or causing him physical pain. Picard explained that for Worf, his inability to handle the emotional aspects of his disability were just as debilitating. (TNG: "Ethics" )
