  • The GK-70 was a gas powered assault rifle produced in Guatemala from 1980-82. Due to its status as a locally produced and designed assault rifle it was briefly popular among guerilla fighters in the country from organizations such as the ORPA, FAR and PGT. It was never used by the country's military or law enforcement, was never exported, and fell out of guerilla use after only a short period of popularity. This is said to be because of its weight when compared to other assault rifles such as the AK-47 and poor quality control.
