  • There are 4 movies in the X-Men film series. This is a list of them: X-Men, X-Men 2: X-Men United, X-Men 3:The Last Stand, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The prequel, X-Men: First Class is scheduled to come out in theaters on June 3, 2011. Also, numerous spin offs have been planned, one of wich is a "one-off ", The Wolverine. Others are Deadpool and New Mutants. X-Men 4 is also in planned. There are many planned movies with no planned cast including Gambit, Emma Frost, Juggernaut, Storm, Mystique, Cable, Dazzler, and Longshot. I don't know if the last three movies i mentioned have anything to do with this film series, but most likely they will. The X-Men film series is Marvels second most successful film series behind the Spider-man film series.
  • After each film earned higher box-office grosses than its predecessor, three spin-off films were released. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), directed by Gavin Hood, focuses on Wolverine's origin story. X-Men: First Class (2011), directed by Matthew Vaughn, focuses on the origins of Professor X and Magneto. The Wolverine (2013), directed by James Mangold, focuses on Wolverine after the events of The Last Stand. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was met with negative reviews from the critics, while X-Men: First Class and The Wolverine were met with positive reviews.

It is set to continue with X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), a dual sequel to both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class, and a follow-up to The Wolverine, with Singer returning as director and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), a sequel to Days of Future Past. A third Wolverine film will follow in 2017.
