  • Titanis is a taxonomic genus within the Family Phorusrhacidae. Only one species is in this family, Titanis walleri. Dax, Jax, Max, Xax are not found. Titanis walleri was known as the Terror Bird, located on southern North America and South America during the Cenozoic era (Quaternary Period) from 5-2 million years ago. It was 5-9 feet tall. They are presently extinct, dying off 2 million years ago, as the (most recent) Ice Age was setting in. Titanis was first described in 1963.
