The race was won by Renault's Fernando Alonso, ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella. The race was notable for Michael Schumacher's engine blow-out on lap 36, which would possibly end his chances of winning the 2006 title, but as he and Alonso had the same amount of wins, Schumacher may possibly win the title unless if he wins at the final race and Alonso finishes outside the points. __TOC__
