  • The most commonly told story of the Ratman involves an old tramp who used the underpass to escape from the rain and the cold at nights. The story goes that he was old and barely able to walk. One night a group of teenagers beat him half to death and stole his blanket, the only real source of warmth he had. Dying from his injuries and the biting cold of the night, he succumbed to hypothermia - his stiffening corpse nibbled and gnawed on by the numerous vermin who inhabit the area. Soon after, locals reported odd noises. Namely, high-pitched squealing and the sound of nails dragging along the walls. Whether evidence of a real ghost or an overactive imagination, the fact remains that this story and subsequent noises led to locals dubbing the creature the Ratman of Southend.
  • Recommended resistances: Damage, Slow, Poison Notes: the Ratmen are not strong but will gain strength in numbers. There is also a Plague Spreader Ratmen which is kind of Shaman. He has the ability Plague which cause unit to take damage over-time and moves to another enemy unit. Beware of using pets against them.
  • Ratman is a fictional superhero mentioned in Dead Rising, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, and Dead Rising 2.
  • Ratmen are creatures in Parasite Eve. The Ratmen are an evolved version of the rat. They are bipedal now and instead of using their tail as their main way of attacking they instead use a bomb projectile. One hand of the Ratman will begin to charge energy, it will then throw the bomb and the bomb will head straight in whichever direction the Ratman happens to be facing, but when it hits the side of the screen it will begin bouncing around at random angles. The best way to avoid this attack is to stay away from the corners and keep a safe distance from the bomb when it stops moving since it will explode afterward. Also if Aya were to get close to the Ratman it will try to bite her.

When he was 13 he was feeding a rat to his pet python, Berta, when his powers kicked in. Othello experienced being eaten by the snake. He was never the same again. In high school Othello fixated on the head cheerleader, Maria Bandares, obsessing over her. He took secret pictures, plastered his closet at home with them. He obsessed over her for four years. When he found out she was going to the senior prom with someone else Othello captured her, held her captive, used her, killed her and fed her body to the rats. The crime was never solved. Othello went through college, graduated and got a job at Pearl Ridge offices for Queen Industries. During this time he killed seven women, all crimes unsolved, no bodies were ever found. All of the women were high school cheerleaders. Over the years Othello grew closer to the rats. He uses them as his spies, his thieves. He has learned to use rats in co-ordinated attacks, one distracting people while another steals jewelry, etc. This has lead to rumors of a Ratman living in the sewers, training rats to steal for him.

Twenty Minutes Into the Future, advances in technology have made low-level superpowers available to anyone who can afford the treatments and gadgets necessary. As a result, corporate-sponsored superheroes have become ubiquitous in Japanese society. Young Shuto Katsuragi has been a superhero Otaku since he was rescued by one as a child, and plans to become a hero himself at the earliest opportunity. Unfortunately, Shuto is just short of five feet tall, skinny, and generally way too wimpy to be considered hero material. Opportunity knocks when the evil organization Jackal kidnaps Shuto and a classmate, and the hero who comes to save them falls. But not before he passes a transformation device to Shuto, who promptly uses it to "henshin." But it was all a trick! Shuto finds that he is now actually a hideous supervillain named Ratman, who is contractually required to do whatever Jackal wants. And what they want is for him to infiltrate the headquarters of the Hero Association and steal their files -- a job that incidentally makes him Hero Association Enemy #1. But there's hints that everything is not as it seems -- don't Jackal's minions seem just a bit too relaxed to be evil? And some of the heroes hardly seem heroic... Not to be confused with Italian superhero parody comic Rat-Man, the one-time character from The Justice Friends, the horror novel Ratmans Notebooks, or the strange benefactor from Portal.
