  • [Source] Selenite was a type of transparent crystal. In the Coway shafts of the planet Mimban crystals taller than a human male could be found.
  • Selenite (CaSO4·2H2O) is a mineral, a clear form of gypsum. In 2375, Samantha Wildman brought some selenite crystals back from an away mission for her daughter Naomi. (VOY: "Once Upon a Time")
  • Selenite is a type of Gypsum that is distributed throughout Sedimentary rocks. It is found scattered in large crystals through types of clay and shale. It appears clear and transparent often in swallowtail or spearhead twinning, and also as cleavage fragments. Many large size selenite crystals are collected and used as decorative pieces.

However at least some Selenite castes are able to learn Human speech and properly communicate with them. Because of the weak gravity of the moon, the Selenite body is very weak and flimsy, and can be easily destroyed by human strength. They are omnivorous, their diet including mooncalves and fungi. Their eyes are sensitive to sunlight, but are able to perceive heat.
