  • Key items (「貴重品」?; Kichō-hin) are unique objects in the game that are needed to progress the main story or certain sidequests. Each one is available only from one specific source in a particular area. When brought to or near a specific place or person, each Key Item automatically activates a certain cutscene or dialogue.
  • In the series, there are various Key Items that are important to the gameplay. This will cover common items between games, and other items of particular significance.
  • Key Items are important items that are (in most cases) crucial to the game's progression. They cannot be used up or thrown away, though some are removed from the inventory after an important event. Below is a list of the Key Items in the Paper Mario series.
  • Key Items are special objects that unlock hidden missions when collected. Most are optional, but two key items are essential for further progress in the game, and most of the others lead to great rewards, so they should all be collected if possible. The following key items can be found in Patapon 2. They are listed in alphabetical order.

Alternatively, players can pay an amount of Gold to instantly finish mission requirements involving Key Items. Key Items are used immediately once players gather the required amount of Key Items for the Mission. As of January 22nd, 2013 key Items are no longer required to complete missions in the Facebook version of MAA. At this time key items are still required for the mobile version of MAA.
