Williams, who played at the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball and San Jacinto Junior College, was selected 10th overall in the 1977 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. After playing for six different teams, he retired in 1987. He was the younger brother of Gus Williams, who also played in the NBA.
