  • Michael Jon "Mike" Grell is an American comic book artist and writer. This in turn led to Green Arrow: Year One, on which the first season of Arrow is largely based. Longbow Hunters was an attempt to reboot the character before this was a term in common usage, taking him away from the dizzying array of trick arrows he developed, and relied on, in the 70s and early 80s, and distancing him from Batman by showing him developing a willingness to kill when he saw a need. Grell recently returned to the comic book series as a writer/artist for the Homecoming story arc (Issues 51-62).
