  • William announces that Freda has left the village again which gives Amos the perfect opportunity to announce that he has been asked to write an obituary of Jim for the Hotten Courier. There's intrigue at Emmerdale Farm about the new residents of Hawthorn Cottage as nobody has seen anything of them. Out in a ditch by the farm though Joe appears to have had the first glimpse, and it is pleasing to the eye. Lesley is a perky twenty year old who has just come from Hawthorn Cottage and says she expects she'll see Joe in the pub sometime. Later on at the farm, Annie is concerned when she attempts to wake Sam from his sleep but there is no response. She calls the doctor out.
