Starting 29th in the field of forty, Jeffrey lost his clutch late in the race but still managed a respectable 24th place result. Jeffrey's busiest year was a four-race schedule in 1988, one that left him a career-best 49th in points. Still, the year for the most part was a struggle for the driver. Splitting time between his own team and Buddy Arrington's effort, Jeffrey was not able to crack the top twenty-five during the season. His season best was just a 26th at Rockingham, though he did make the prestigious Daytona 500 and finished 30th. Jeffrey's next start came in 1989, when he competed at Michigan. Starting 37th in the field of forty, Jeffrey was running at the finish of the race but only managed a 30th place showing. Jeffrey's final race came in 1990, when he competed at Rockingham. Starting 32nd in the field, Jeffrey fell a number of laps down and struggled to a 30th place run.
