Though he had on his bulletproof vest, the accident damaged his left leg severely and it had to be amputated. He spent 18 months in recovery and rehabilitation, adjusting to his artificial leg. Unable to return to the Rangers, he found another calling. He trained himself to the peak of fitness and health. He also had expert archers train him in the use of the bow. He now fights crime as The Texas Ranger.
