However, three years later, in 2005, Monroe Cooper, a private investigator announced that he had found McAllister's remains. The NCIS Major Case Response Team led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs got full custody of the car and remains and despite attempting to claim the fortune he felt was rightfully his, Cooper was eventually arrested for trying to frame McAllister's brother, Tom while it was later determined that Brian McAllister's death was simply an accident, not murder as originally thought.
