He was also present at both Magistrate and Crown Court throughout the first half of 2010 at the trial of Gail McIntyre for the murder of her husband Joe, a charge for which she was found "not guilty". In June 2011 he read out the charges against Fiz Stape for fraud and for her alleged part in husband John's multiple crimes, including the murders of Colin and Joy Fishwick and Charlotte Hoyle. She pleaded guilty to fraud but not guilty to the remainder and was bailed to appear at a trial. Six months later he was the clerk at the trial of Frank Foster for rape. The foreman read out a verdict of "not guilty" to the clerk at the end of the proceedings. His last trial over which he presided as clerk was that of Peter Barlow for the murder of Tina McIntyre. It was again the clerk who asked for the verdict which this time was "guilty" while the real murderer, Rob Donovan, watched from the public gallery. Paul Dockery, who played the Clerk, is a real-life barrister who advises ITV on legal proceedings for episodes in the programme involving criminal trials. He had previously appeared in the programme as Neil, an Usher.
