At the May 4th, 2011 public memorial for former Miami Dolphin Jim Mandich, teammate Bob Griese said "you could time a sun dial to Marv Fleming." Fleming was the victim of an identity theft scam in the late 70s and early 80s. One Arthur Lee Trotter posed as Fleming and was arrested in Texas in 1980 for selling phony stock in NFL teams. Caught, Trotter conceded to police that he was not Fleming: he said he was actually former Baltimore Colts star John Mackey. Fleming was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
