Although he can stand and walk normally, he prefers moving around in a hovering chair with a variety of inbuilt functions. It is indicated that Septimus may infact be a Newtype himself. His life and academic career are never discussed in detail, but it is known that he was responsible for at least two of the Commonwealth's scientific endeavours: the re-creation of an Awakened (from Akiko and possibly other, previous experiments), and the modifications to the Grand Cannon in Beaumont to use the spirit energy of numerous sacrificed newtypes and aberrants to fire at Akiko in an attempt to destroy her. He is encountered in battle by the player during the second half of the game himself apparently injected himself with MaGenetic cells and transformed into a series of MaGenetic creatures when fought by Ole atop the Grand Cannon.
