  • Galathil
rdfs:comment
  • Galathil is a very enigmatic character who yielded no stats in MERP/ICE. Once again it is up for his stats and character to be developed by the GM. Of all the stories out there written on this character--one stands out as making the most sense as to why he stayed in Middle Earth: Galathil stood at 6'6 and had cold blue eyes. Silver hair could be seen within his dark hood. Housed in mithril plate and a black cloak with a hood, Galathil is just as much a terror to his opponents as the sons of Feanor were to his family.

  • Galathil is a very enigmatic character who yielded no stats in MERP/ICE. Once again it is up for his stats and character to be developed by the GM. Of all the stories out there written on this character--one stands out as making the most sense as to why he stayed in Middle Earth: After the fall of Doriath, the killing of his son in law Dior, the disappeance (death more likely) of his grandchildren, the muder of his uncle (Elwe), and his wife overcoming with grief after hearing the news of Nimloth's death--Galathil literally had no one in his life. With the recent death of his wife, he contemplated suicide. All his life had been shaped by doom, and he contemplated ending his life as he felt betrayed by everything that he knew. It was at this time that a giant crow flew towards him and dropped a black amulet and a dark sphere at Galathil's feet. Galathil knew that gorcrows were a sign of omen and had learned that they were familiars of the Doommaster Namo. Seeing this as a potiential sign, he touched the amulet and heard Namo's voice in it. Namo had taken pity on Galathil, for he had suffered greatly and was a good humble elf. The voice told him that he would still have a puropse in middle earth, and like Voronwe--this was one of the rarest occurrences in middle earth where an elf was saved by a Valar. Galathil took these gifts and began training in Martial Arts, learned how to pick locks, and learned how to disarm traps--he became adept at it all. Over the years, the older brother of Celeborn grew to become very unfriendly with all Dwarves and Noldor, and outright hated the last sons of Feanor. He abused the gifts of Namo and became a very dark character; though on the side of good and the free peoples, Galathil never forgot the terrible deeds done unto him and his loved ones, and he decided on one goal, and that was to assassinate any son of Feanor that was left in the world. Galathil did not mourn Celebrimbor's death, but did grow to think better of some Noldor due to Gil-Galad's leadership. He accepted Galadriel and her families line, but never could he forget the death of his wife and daughter from the atrocities of the sons of Feanor. Galathil would remain in middle earth until Maglor, the last of Feanor's sons, had atoned for his crimes against Elwe's line. Always good, humble, and wise, Galathil is a consumate leader and is not shaken by the most gruesome of events or evils in the world. Galathil eventually went on to live in Lothlorien with his brother. Celeborn forsaw Galathil's plight and new his loss. He knew that one day he would find out the truth about Maglor and that he would come to face a decision that he left behind in the First Age. Though Celeborn actually knows the wherebouts of Maglor, he doesn't tell Galathil, understanding that the Sinda will eventually find out on his own. Celeborn also tries to talk Galathil out of his hatred for the sons of Feanor, but Galathil is stubborn in this regard, having eternal enmity for the one's who robbed him of his passion for life. Outside of this, Galathil is a friendly person and has healed from his spiritual wounds. He is quiet for the most part and speaks mostly when spoken to, he will at times strike up a conversation with someone he knows or cares about, but mostly keeps to himself. He is fond of his younger brother and is very close to Cirdan. He also gets along real well with Elrond who tries to stem Galathil's enmity towards Noldor as well. Such a unique character, he is always willing to accomplish the most dirty tasks that the White Council need doing. Galathil stood at 6'6 and had cold blue eyes. Silver hair could be seen within his dark hood. Housed in mithril plate and a black cloak with a hood, Galathil is just as much a terror to his opponents as the sons of Feanor were to his family.
