Auch sie fand auf Anhieb begeisterte Anhänger und noch im selben Jahr wurde das "Sherlock Holmes Criminal-Cabinet" als Spiel des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Seither tauchen Kosmos-Spiele regelmäßig auf den Auswahllisten auf; den vorläufigen Höhepunkt markierte das sensationell erfolgreiche "Die Siedler von Catan" als Spiel des Jahres 1995.
