  • The Basilisk boss is an especially strong basilisk that can only be fought once, during the Desert Slayer Dungeon miniquest. Killing the basilisk boss gives the player a reward of 1,000 Slayer experience. Like its regular brethren, it can drain stats and deal high damage if a mirror shield or Mask of Reflection is not equipped. However, its draining effect cannot be completely avoided by wearing a mirror shield or a Mask of Reflection.

  • The Basilisk boss is an especially strong basilisk. The basilisk boss can only be fought once, during the Desert Slayer Dungeon miniquest, after Smoking Kills. Killing the basilisk boss gives the player a reward of 1,000 Slayer experience. Killing this boss while having the regular version assigned gives more Slayer experience. However, if the player's current task is basilisks, then the 15% combat bonus of the full or regular slayer helmet, black mask, hexcrest and focus sight is in effect, as well as the basilisk boss counting toward the task. Unlike other basilisks, the boss has a stat draining effect which cannot be avoided by wearing a mirror shield. The Mask of Reflection does not protect against the stat drain or give a damage bonus. The recommended strategy for fighting the basilisk boss is to use melee combat; the basilisk is weak to stab attacks, so the use of a one-handed stabbing weapon, such as the chaotic rapier, korasi's sword, or even a dragon dagger, is recommended, although any one-handed melee weapon works fine. Spears and other two-handed weapons are not recommended, as the player will suffer harsh stat reductions and large amounts of damage (1000+), even through prayers. Even with the use of prayers, each of its attacks still reduces one or two combat stats by one to three points. A super restore or restore potion is very useful, although it is possible to replace them with combat potion or super attack and super strength potions. Super restore has the benefit of restoring Prayer points as well as any lost combat stats, meaning that players would not need prayer potions. Another method is to use the Rejuvenate ultimate Ability to restore stats during the fight, provided that your Defence level hasn't been reduced below Rejuvenate's required 52, but this can only be used once every five minutes. Note that having a familiar during the battle can distract the basilisk into attacking it, but it only attacks the familiar with its bite attack. Defeating this boss with ranged is possible, but much more difficult than with melee. Bring plenty of prayer and restore potions. Side note: if your Prayer level is 45+, two prayer potions should be enough if you attack with a stab weapon. Anything less than a dragon dagger will barely hit it. Make sure you keep watching your Prayer points and keep your stats up. To make the most of it, use the restore first then use either combat potion or super set if you can afford it. This is the most efficient way to order the potions, as if you were to drink a stat-boosting potion before the stat-restoring potion then your stats would only peak at their regular level. Upon defeating the boss, you will have access to the regular basilisks in the room. The basilisks in the room are not aggressive.
