But North Wilkesboro was still Wagner's season highlight, running a speed of 57.563 mph to take the pole. Wagner's next three races came in the 1950 season, when he started off Langhorne. Wagner was again impressive in qualifying, starting 4th. But the race was a different matter, as Wagner slipped to 17th in the Langhorne race and then a dismal 70th place at Darlington. Yet Wagner was finally able to put it together in the second Langhorne race that season, rounding out the year with a career-best 10th place effort. Wagner's final three races of his career came in 1951, when the driver started the year off down on Daytona Beach. After recording a mid-pack effort of 41st place there, Wagner rebounded nicely at Wilson by posting a season-best 12th place effort. But Wagner's final race was a dismal one, finishing last (41st) at Langhorne.
