  • Edward Garan was a human Insurrectionist. Born on Eridanus II in 2481, Garan joined the Eridanus Rebel Front in 2498, seeing it as his patriotic duty to his colony, and eventually became an infantry officer, participating in the guerrilla war waged by the ERF, and gaining fame for heroic actions during the 2513 rebellion, for which he was made one of Watts' advisers, and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. In 2525, after the capture of Watts by Blue Team, fearing the United Nations Space Command would find and destroy Eridanus Secundus, Garan led a mass exodus of the station's population to Boundary, among them many rebel officers and fighters. On Boundary, the rebels joined the nascent Boundary Republic, Garan becoming one of the most respected officers in the organization. In 2529, after the fall of the Unified Earth Government loyal administration on the colony, the Boundary Republic took over, and Garan was appointed as Marshal, overseeing the military. When the United Nations Space Command attacked in 2559, during the siege of the capital, Garan made constant broadcasts urging the population to fight on. When the Republic finally fell two weeks after the battle began, Garan fled aboard a liaison aircraft. Pursued by the Office of Naval Intelligence, Garan made his home in a secluded frontier settlement alongside other Insurrectionists that had escaped capture. In 2567, a scant eight years after the fall of the Boundary Republic, Garan passed away due to complications from materials inhaled during the Siege of Lesno in 2559.
