  • The shop was the site of many clandestine activities. Shortly after the Federation's takeover of Deep Space 9, Garak "invited" Doctor Julian Bashir to try on a new suit. Bashir subsequently overheard Lursa and B'Etor discuss plans for handing over terrorist Tahna Los to the Cardassians, double-crossing Tahna. (DS9: "Past Prologue") In 2371, Garak destroyed his shop to stop a Flaxian assassin, Retaya, from killing him. (DS9: "Improbable Cause") Garak rebuilt the shop a short time after the assassination attempt, thwarting Quark's attempt to turn the space into a massage parlor. (DS9: "The Die is Cast", "The Way of the Warrior") Just prior to the Federation-Klingon War in 2372, Garak was assaulted inside his shop by Klingon soldiers. He claimed that he "got off several cutting remarks, which no doubt did serious damage to their egos." (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior") Upon learning that the Romulan shuttle carrying Senator Vreenak had been destroyed, Captain Sisko, realizing that Garak had arranged this so the Romulans would enter the war against the Dominion, immediately made his way to Garak's shop to confront him. Garak was punched in the face twice during this confrontation. (DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight") Garak also met with station counselor Ezri Dax after suffering repeated bouts of claustrophobia. (DS9 novel: A Stitch in Time) In 2371, Garak destroyed his shop in order for Odo to investigate Retaya, a Flaxian who had hired by the Tal Shiar to assassinate Garak. Garak made plans to repair the shop soon after. (DS9 episodes: "Improbable Cause", "The Die is Cast") After Garak left Deep Space 9 following the Dominion War, the shop remained unoccupied until it was used for an exhibit of art by Tora Ziyal. Garak briefly returned to the station to visit the exhibition in September of 2376. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novels: Twilight, This Gray Spirit, Cathedral, DS9 novel: Unity)
