| abstract | - The Battle of Blood and Snow was fought between the forces of the Lion and Scorpion Clans. The action took place in a valley which offered little cover to the Lion troops from the Scorpion archers. The Scorpion held a tall hill at one end of the valley which dominated the lower ground. From their position, the archers rained arrows down like terrible snowflakes upon the Lion bushi while their shugenja blasted the Lion forces back with gouts of mystical fire. The one sided fight finally ended when a mass of Lion samurai suicidally charged the up hill into the teeth of the shugenja's magical bolts, enough bushi survived the terrible gauntlet of arrows to close with the lightly protected archers. The enraged Lion slaughtered the Scorpion troops. The Lion lost the greater portion of their troops, but when the battle ended, they held the field.
