  • The Sesame Street Library is a 15-volume set of books that was published by Funk & Wagnalls between 1978 and 1979. Consisting of 40 pages filled with illustrated stories by various artists, each entry in the set followed the same basic format. Approximately a dozen writers contributed material either adapted from episodic Sesame Street, pulled out of another stand-alone book, or created exclusively for this set. The first 12 volumes featured letters of the alphabet and were likely done together as a set. They each contained chapters from The Sesame Street Storybook, The Sesame Street 1, 2, 3 Storybook, The Sesame Street ABC Storybook, Big Bird's Busy Book, Muppets In My Neighborhood, and The Sesame Street 1977 Calendar. The last three volumes were done in 1979, possibly as a supplement to the first 12 published the previous year. Their format is slightly different, and they don't feature nearly as many contributing writers. Pages are more straightforward with "lesson plans" and "exercises," resembling the content found in Sesame Street Magazine. All of the covers are illustrated by Joe Mathieu, and the books feature his artwork as well as that of Michael Frith.
