He had 15 goals scored against him in those 130 minutes of play, for a Goals Against Average of 6.92. He was chosen 169th overall by the Colorado Rockies in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. MacKenzie retired in 1987 due to injuries, In 1992-93 he was the head coach of the junior Newmarket Royals of the Ontario Hockey League. From 2000 to 2004 he served as head coach of the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads. During the 2005 - 2006 season he was head coach of the senior CEHL's Dartmouth Destroyers.
