  • During the original design process, an unnamed scientist who worked with Robotnik on the formula for Mega Mack was exposed to large quantities of the chemical. Rather than being killed, this individual somehow mutated and merged with the substance, becoming the maniacal creature known as Megatox. Megatox was completely one with the Mega Mack, his consciousness capable of manipulating any amount of the chemical added to his original body. He was capable of liquid-shifting, splitting into several bodies and later could make himself solid by absorbing large amounts of electrical energy.
  • Mega Mack is the semi-official name of the infamous pink "water" found in the Chemical Plant Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Mega Mack was not poisonous in-game, however it was infamous for producing less air bubbles than normal water and thus made it much easier for Sonic to drown (a fact not helped by the general rule that Sonic can not swim).
  • The Mega Mack is a pink liquid with texture seemingly identical to that of water. Its properties are inconsistent though. Western materials refer to Mega Mack as a toxic liquid which can poison Sonic in a manner of minutes, while Japanese sources simply refer to it as water with an odd coloring. Regardless, Tails has been unnerved by Mega Mack, hinting it is indeed an unpleasant substance.

In the United Kingdom's Sonic the Comic however Mega Mack was a more villainous tool in the sense it was deliberately created by Dr. Robotnik as a poisonous substance designed to eliminate Sonic - however an accident in the process of making this stuff resulted in the creation of the monster known as Megatox.

In gameplay, the Mega Mack has the properties of water (apart from its color), meaning that the playable characters can drown after being submerged in it for extended periods of time. Contrary to western descriptions though, the playable characters will suffer no form of poisoning from being submerged in Mega Mack.
