Keefe quickly proved it was no fluke, recording a career-best 4th place finish at Eureka in his next start and then tacking on a seventh place run at Sacramento later in the year. In addition, Keefe finished no worse than 13th during his other starts during the year at tracks like Merced and San Mateo, setting the stage for a solid first year. Keefe scaled it down to a three-race schedule for the 1957 season, but still fared quite well. He ran all three Portland races, faring no worse than 15th in the May race, and that was because of an engine failure. His better two runs were a 6th place showing in the April race and a 12th place run at the track in July. Keefe then ran two more races during the 1958 season, having a fantastic year. In his first start at Riverside, Keefe started deep in the field in 44th. But steadily, Keefe made his way to the front, completing all but nine laps to finish 5th. He was just as solid in his other start during the season, showing 7th at Sacramento. Keefe's final career race came in 1959, when he made his first start at Ascot. But it seemingly mattered little to Keefe, who completed nearly every lap and ended his career with a remarkable 5th place showing.
