  • Topps Comics was a division of Topps Company, Inc. that published comic books from 1993 to 1998, beginning its existence during a short comics-industry boom that attracted many investors and new companies. It was based at 254 36th Street, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, and at One Whitehall Street, in New York City's Manhattan. The company specialized in licensed titles, particularly movie and television series tie-ins, such The X-Files, based on the Fox TV show, and the films Bram Stoker's Dracula and Jurassic Park. It also licensed such literary properties as Zorro, and published a smattering of original series, including Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and several based on concepts by then-retired industry legend Jack Kirby.

Based in New York City, Topps Comics published its total output of comic books, the nature of which varied, from 1993 until 1998 but its best-selling title was The X-Files. A total of forty-one issues in this series were published, made up of stand-alone non-canon stories (similar to the novels), along with an independent graphic novel (Afterflight) and some short specials. Issues 1 (Not to be Opened Until X-Mas) through 12 (Feelings of Unreality Part Three: Nightmare of History) were all a part of one continuous story (Project Aquarius), with several smaller story arcs. After issue 12, the stories are self-contained—either lasting one issue, or in smaller story arcs of two or three parts. Topps Comics also published a comic book adaptation of The X-Files Movie, a four-issue adaptation of The X-Files novel Ground Zero and a series of adaptations of The X-Files episodes (nine issues of episodes from season 1 were published when the series was cancelled).
