He is a villain from the Dragon Ball Z series, who first appears as an innocent-looking, pudgy pink genie-like creature. Later in the series, it is revealed that Buu's original appearance is that of a sleek, demonic-like child also known as Pure Majin Buu. However, his nature and form had been altered after he had assimilated the gentle, pudgy god (Grand Supreme Kai) into his body.

Seething with anger, Buu expels a cloud of steam, which forms into Pure Evil Majin Buu, a manifestation of all of the evil that existed in Buu's heart. The two Boos fight, but Pure Evil Buu turns Buu into chocolate and eats him, transforming him into Evil Majin Buu. Much later, as the Z warriors, Son Goku and Vegeta are fighting Pure Majin Buu, a later transformation of Evil Buu, Mr. Satan scolds Pure Buu, who is unable to kill him due to the affection the original Buu once felt for him. Pure Buu then expels the original Buu, who in turn fights against Pure Buu on the side of the Z warriors. After a prolonged battle, Goku is able to kill Pure Buu with a Chou Genki Dama, and he and Vegeta discover the original Buu, barely alive. After some debate, Goku and Mr. Satan convince Vegeta to spare Buu, since he helped them fight Pure Buu and the evil has been expelled from his heart. "Mr. Buu" then becomes a permanent Z warrior and lives with Satan.
