abstract
  • Jack Hollis was one of the firemen who rushed to Coronation Street in March 1979 when a lorry carrying wood crashed into the front of the Rovers, injuring several residents and apparently burying Tracy Langton under the debris. Hollis lay on the wood trying to listen for Tracy’s cries underneath. Several times his boss, Assistant Divisional Officer Scott called for silence from the onlookers but Jack was unable to hear anything. After finding one of Tracy’s dolls, he tunnelled underneath the wood but found that the little girl herself was missing. She was later found in the possession of Sally Norton who had had to give up her own baby for adoption and who had suffered a breakdown as a result. Credited as "Fireman Hollis", his first name was given in dialogue.
