Notes | - This is the book of Bereishit / Genesis / בראשית which is the first book of the Torah.
In the Jewish tradition, the Torah is divided into a series of parshahs which are each read in the synagogue on Shabbat in a cyclical fashion, beginning and ending on Simchat Torah. The need to cite individual lines caused the development of a chapter-verse layout which is presented in most printed copies. Here, the text is presented in both formats.
