| abstract | - Recognizing the growing need for anti-capital ship weaponry, the designers at Kuat Systems Engineering produced a limited number of MorningStar Assault Starfighters, which were intended to ward off capital ships while still providing a solid starfighter screen. As more and more pirates, mercenaries, and outlaws gained control over powerful warships of capital size, the demand for a countermeasure from planets that did not produce their own starfighters became readily apparent. As with many starfighters of the time, these ships found their way into the very hands of those they were supposed to protect against, but once KSE was reacquired by their parent company, Kuat Drive Yards, they ceased production on the ship and moved on to future projects. However, when KSE became a subsidiary once again, the company reacquired the MorningStar series. There are three known version of the MorningStar. The A model is meant purely for dogfighting with other starfighters. The B model is also a dogfighting type, like the A model, but possesses more firepower than the A model and can also take more damage. The C model is an assault starfighter for use against capital ships. This variant naturally has the most firepower. It is also more armored than the other types All three designs of this classic starfighter are being offered by Hoersch-Kessel Drive with the permission of KSE.
