  • Ies Bredell was a Vardaine scientist and former administrator of the Vardaine Science Council. In the late 2250s, Bredell was the leader of the anti-Federation faction on his planet and was also head of a covert plot to construct Constitution-class starships. In 2258, he attempted to overthrow the Vardaine Council, but the plot was exposed by James T. Kirk of the USS Farragut and he was dismissed from the Vardaine Science Council. In 2268, he later assumed command of a duplicate USS Enterprise, and was presumed killed when the ship was destroyed by the original USS Enterprise. (TOS video game: 25th Anniversary) Bredell had in fact survived and in 2269, he set to the construction of a Big Bang Weapon on Espoir Station. Fortunately, he was apprehended by the crew of the Enterprise before he could deploy it, and his weapon was destroyed by the Enterprise. (TOS video game: Judgment Rites) Menao Sheme mentioned to Captain Kirk that Ies Bredell had a son, who was named Vas Bredell. No further details are known about his son.
