The Tarot consists of 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards. She had a normal life until her 12th birthday when she inherited her grandmothers Celtic Dragon Tarot cards. When she picked up the Death card a large silver and white dragon flew off the card and grabbed her mother who was sitting beside her. Te drugie odwołują się do znaków zodiaku, osobowości i żywiołów, a przez tarocistów odczytywane jako odpowiedzi na pytania pokroju: Czy jak włożę palec we wrzątek, to się sparzę? Wielkie Arkana odwołują się do archetypów, ale więcej wspólnego mają z anime i grami RPG. We wróżbach oznaczają przełomowe wydarzenia w przyszłości, a wszystko zależy od sposobu ułożenia kart. All she took with her was the cards and a small bag with clothes and money. Making her away across Ireland Tarot made payment onto a ship heading for America. Arriving on the shores of New York City, Tarot set out to begin a new life. She joined a local street fair group reading people's tarot cards. Occasionally her powers would flair up and create a spectacular event of whoever she was reading the cards for. Her predictions were never wrong and she had many repeat customers. She earned a living for 2 years this way before the fair group closed down. Soon she was looking for other ways to earn money. After a couple of months searching for a job she decided to head to the place known for mystics and voodoo, New Orleans.

El primer documento escrito en papel en el viejo continente —una carta escrita en árabe— está fechada a principios del siglo IX. El primer molino de papel de Occidente abrió sus puertas hacia el año 1056 en Xàtiva (Valencia), y su propietario era un árabe. Sin embargo, los juegos de cartas todavía no existían. El precio de las barajas habría sido muy alto y su difusión mínima. Por esta razón, es casi imposible que existieran las cartas de tarot, que no son más que la evolución de unos juegos de naipes. Aún falta un poco para que aparezca en Occidente la primera baraja. Según todos los datos, el origen de los juegos de cartas en Europa data de principios del siglo XIV, aunque su primera aparición tuvo lugar en China y de ahí se expandió por Occidente. También es muy probable que la cartomancia (la supuesta lectura del futuro mediante cartas) se originase en aquel país. Por un lado, en China el papel estaba relativamente extendido entre las clases más altas, ya que servía para imprimir moneda; y por otro, ese dinero se utilizaba como naipes. También se sabe que existían distintos mé todos populares de adivinación u oráculo, el más conocido de los cuales era el I Ching o Libro de las mutaciones que, tal como lo conocemos hoy, data del siglo VIII a. C.(aunque sus orígenes se remontan hasta el 2500 AEC). Esta técnica se basa en 64 figuras conocidas como hexagramas. Cada uno está compuesto por seis líneas: tres continuas que significan sí (o representan el yin) y dos discontinuas que significan no (o yang), combinadas de diversas maneras. Así, utilizando distintos métodos (lanzando monedas o utilizando tablillas con los signos pintados), se obtenía el símbolo que correspondía a una persona y su contrario o mutación (es decir, si la tirada indicaba seis síes, la mutación eran seis noes). A partir de ahí, y teniendo en cuenta que cada signo tenía un significa do concreto, se realizaba la predicción. Carl Jung fue un gran estudioso del I Ching, al que en más de una ocasión comparó con el tarot. Aunque hay muchos puntos en común entre ambos métodos, también hay importantes diferencias. Son tradiciones que evolucionaron en partes distintas del mundo y, pese a su empleo en la adivinación y su estructura (tirada + lectura), son más los puntos que los separan que los que tienen en común. El I Ching puede leerse también como un libro filosófico, mientras que en el tarot el simbolismo desempeña un papel más básico. En el primer caso, además, cada hexagrama tiene un significado concreto, algo que no ocurre en las barajas de adivinación (más abiertas a la interpretación). Pero aunque el papel y las barajas surgieron en China, y aunque éstas se utilizaron para adivinar el futuro, el tarot no surgió allí; y tampoco existe en el mundo un solo documento conocido que permita afirmar que el tarot pasó por el antiguo Egipto siguiendo los mismos pasos que el papel, como pretenden algunos. Ciertos estudiosos añaden que, en realidad, los juegos de cartas se iniciaron en Corea o en la India antes que en China. Pero es difícil saberlo; entre otras cosas porque los chinos no tenían una palabra que definiera las cartas en función de los materiales, por lo que es posible que una baraja pudiera designar tanto fichas de marfil como cartas de papel o tablillas de madera.
