• New characters pop up all the time in GoTA, particularly during original chapters. If you find a character who does not have his or her own page, here is the tutorial to follow to create one! For starters, keep in mind that characters have preference when it comes to page names. There is a character page for Daemon Waters, but there also happens to be a storyline with the same name. Therefore, the storyline is called Daemon Waters (Vol BT) because the character page has preference. When creating your character page, if you get an error message that there is already a page with this name, please rename the other page.

The Create a New Page section of the Wiki (found under the Community > Help tabs) is your best friend when creating a new page. The new character template is fairly self-explanatory and contains helpful hints about what the different lines are for, so it should be a fairly easy procedure. 1. * Choose the Character template from Create a New Page. Make the character's title and full name (Ser Hugo Flint, for example) as the title of the page. 2. * At the very beginning of the template, before {{Character, type the following: Character Nav Bar. This will put a fancy menu at the top of the page, linking to all characters. 3. * The template has several possible entries: {{Character marks the beginning of the template, so leave that line alone. The next line contains a lot of options for what type of character you are adding. You may choose only one. For bastard and knight, you can leave hb or lb if you know whether the character is highborn or lowborn; otherwise, remove those designations. Noble and smallfolk can be abbreviated with the letters in the parentheses, but I typically just spell them out. |image: this should be the link to the image that is used for that character. While Rona Grey has her own character image, Daenerys Targaryen is designated in quests by the image File:Targaryen Character.jpg. |name: this will almost always be blank (or simply remove that line all together). This is used when your page name isn't identical to the name of the character. |aka: "also known as" or a nickname. Lord Petyr Baelish is also known as Littlefinger; Ser Gregor Clegane is also known as the Mountain. |your: how the character you are creating is "related" to your character. Maester Lucas would be your advisor, Jayne would be your children (to categorize it appropriately, it has to say children even though she is singular), and Lady Ester Goldfoot is your neighbor. |born: the location from where your character hails. Eutimio's character page would say Braavos; Sansa Stark's would say North. You can eliminate this line if the location is unknown. |fealty: the character's fealty. This section can be tricky because some characters change fealty depending upon your character. Lady Ester Goldfoot is a Martell bannerman if your character has sworn fealty to the Martells, but this will change if you are a Stark or a Greyjoy. Fealty should only be used if the character has a set fealty, like Tyrion Lannister (whose character page simply says Lannister) or Lord Randyll Tarly (whose character page says Tyrell bannerman). |job: the character's job or affiliation. This section can also be tricky because the job/affiliation you list must match a pre-existing category. Septa Eleanor's job is not "septa" but rather "The Seven." When in doubt, look at other character pages to see how they look. Since Ser Hugo Flint is already listed as a knight in the first line, you do not need to put his job as "Knights of the Realm" because it will duplicate the category. |lineage: relatives of the character you are creating. Remember to link the characters when you list them. You are not restricted to those familial relationships; you can include anything you'd like, such as "Engaged to" or "Niece of." }} is the closing of the template, so don't erase it by mistake! 4. * The next part of the template tells you to write up a basic description of the character. There is no rule for this, except please try to avoid spoilers in your description. 5. * The final section of the template is for all of the quests in which this character appears. But it's easier than it looks! Prologue Volume I Volume You Forging Bonds All you need to do are list the volumes and storylines in which the character appears. The template will automatically list all of the quests, assuming the character was linked in them. If your character only appears in one volume, erase all of the placeholders that aren't necessary. As noted in the final two sections, if your character appears in a bonus or performance quest, leave those placeholders. If they do not, you can delete them. Here is an example of what you would put if your character was in the Birthright and Daemon Waters (Vol BT) storylines of Breaking Ties, and was featured in a bonus quest: Breaking Ties That's all there is to it! You can add any information to an already-existing character page to keep it updated using information from this template.
