He began his solo career in 1991, and recorded six studio albums. He has also taken part in several Contests: in Millstreet in 1993 (he is the author of Sva bol svijeta), in Jerusalem in 1999 (singing Putnici/Les Voyageurs with Béatrice) and in 2011 with Love in Rewind. Dino Merlin has also taken part in other big European festivals, such as Copenhagen in 1996 and Turkovision in 1997. As of 2014, he has released eleven studio albums and in July 2015 held a concert in front of an audience of 70,000 people.
