  • Pamelyn Ferdin (born February 4, 1959) is an American voice actor is the voice of Sally, Minnie the Minx, Toots and Ivy the Terrible in the 1963 TV show, The Beano. She voiced Cynthia.
  • She played the Bumsteads' daughter Cookie in the 1968-1969 CBS revival series Blondie. She played Felix Unger's daughter Edna in the 1970s ABC series version of The Odd Couple and Paul Lynde's daughter Sally on the short-lived The Paul Lynde Show. Science fiction / fantasy She appeared on the original Star Trek in 1968 as one of a group of orphaned children led by an alien with sinister motives in the episode "And the Children Shall Lead", and in the 1977 series Space Academy as Laura Gentry. Ferdin provided the voice of Lucy van Pelt in three Peanuts cartoons: the 1969 TV special It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown, a 1969 feature film A Boy Named Charlie Brown and the 1971 TV special Play It Again, Charlie Brown. She played a girl tormented by a devilish child (portrayed by Laurie Prange) in the Night Gallery episode "Brenda." She appeared as Mary Constable in the supernatural thriller Daughter of the Mind and as Abby Clarkson in The Mephisto Waltz (1971). She was considered for the role of Regan MacNeil, the demon-possessed girl in the 1973 William Friedkin film "The Exorcist," but casting directors preferred the then less-familiar actress Linda Blair. Other films include The Reluctant Astronaut, The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, The Christine Jorgensen Story, Happy Birthday Wanda June, and The Toolbox Murders. Pamelyn was a frequent guest star on episodic television in the 1960s and 1970s, with appearances on Bewitched, Green Acres, The Andy Griffith Show, Branded, Daniel Boone, Custer, The Monkees, The Flying Nun, Gunsmoke, Shazam!, The High Chaparral, Mannix, The Brady Bunch, Family Affair, Love, American Style, Marcus Welby, M.D., Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Apple's Way, The Streets of San Francisco, Baretta, CHiPS, and 240-Robert. She appeared in the made-for-TV films Smoke, The Forgotten Man, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Miles to Go Before I Sleep. Her character Amy in the 1971 film The Beguiled turns against the Clint Eastwood character after he kills her pet turtle. [On her "Memory Alpha" webpage, she is credited as the first person who ever killed Clint Eastwood in a film—as a 10 year-old girl.] She voiced Fern Arable, the little girl who saves the life of Wilbur the pig, in the 1973 movie Charlotte's Web. Ferdin's association with animals continued when she co-starred with the dog Lassie from 1971 to 1973. Her character, Lucy Baker, a deaf adolescent who initially had a pet wolf, loved and interacted with a variety of animals, including horses and a llama.
  • Her only work for Disney included the roles of Laura Bower in The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, for which she won a 1968 Critics Award from Film Daily for Best Performance by a Juvenile Actress in a Motion Picture, and Susie in the Wonderful World of Disney episode "Smoke". • Ferdin has made frequent appearances at Star Trek conventions. She is very willing to speak with attendees and sign autographs. From 1964 through 1979, it was difficult to turn on the television or go to the movies and not find Ferdin's blonde tresses or distinctive voice. Her mother took her from screen test to screen test, regardless of Ferdin's desire or health. She tells of one round of interviews in which several casting director noted her rosy cheeks. What they did not know was she had a case of the flu and was writhing in pain between appointments. Ferdin was very nearly cast as Regan MacNeill in The Exorcist, based on her performance as Mary. The very similar-looking Linda Blair was chosen instead as she was a relative unknown and Ferdin had already made a number of guest appearances in science fiction and suspense films and television shows. Ferdin holds a rare place in the history of modern cinema. As of 2006, she is still the only co-star to have killed a Clint Eastwood character. In 1971's The Beguiled, she picks the mushrooms that are served to Eastwood and lead to his death by food poisoning. Ferdin's other contribution to television science fiction is Space Academy. She played Laura, a girl with ESP. Brian Tochi, another of the children of Triacus, played Teegar in that series. Space Academy spawned a sequel, Jason of Star Command, in which James Doohan (Montgomery Scott) played Commander Canarvin. Some of Ferdin's other film credits include Daughter of the Mind, a film version of Paul Gallico's mystery The Hand of Mary Constable. She also appeared in The Mephisto Waltz and A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. She regretted her role in 1978's The Toolbox Murders. Ferdin was the original voice of Lucy Van Pelt in the Peanuts series of television films, and also lent her vocal talents to The Cat In The Hat, Sealab 2020 and Roman Holidays. Her latest voiceover role was on Detention in 1999. In an example of life imitating art, Ferdin provided the voice of Fern Arable, the girl who saves and raises a runt pig in 1973's animated version of Charlotte's Web. Today, Ferdin is a leader of the Animal Defense League of Los Angeles. She married trauma surgeon Jerry Vlasak in 1986. Both Ferdin and Dr. Vlasak have been jailed numerous times for the efforts to protect animals. [1]
