  • Retainer (リテーナ) is an item created by WD for Generation C. A Pokémon holding retainer would have a 25% penalty on accuracy and double the base power when using bite moves. Moves affected by this item are: * Bite * Bug Bite * Crunch * Draco Fang * Dragon Jaw * Drain Bite * Gem Crunch * Gnash * Fire Fang * Hyper Fang * Ice Fang * Iron Jaw * Poison Fang * Super Fang * Thunder Fang
  • A retainer was a fee paid to retain the services of a professional. In 2364, Jessica Bradley gave PI Dixon Hill a one hundred dollar bill as a retainer. (TNG: "The Big Goodbye" )
  • A Retainer is a vampire's loyal servant or bodyguard. They are often ghouls, both to ensure their loyalty and to grant them the physical enhancements they need to stand toe-to-toe with the threats their master may face. Whether through vitae, Dominate or a generous salary, a retainer is bound to their master (but does not necessarily obey blindly). Retainers may protect their masters during the day or during torpor, manage household or business affairs, or otherwise act in their master's stead.
  • Using the principle of possession, a spirit will crossover from the Pure Land by a yet unstated method and inhabit a being who is currently still alive. The process is harmless to the individual and normally a being forms a symbiotic relationship with the spirit and both benefit. In almost all known cases, the host was granted the Kekkei Genkai of the spirit as well as some form of a boost to their life force and vitality, allowing them to utilize high level techniques.

In almost all known cases, the host was granted the Kekkei Genkai of the spirit as well as some form of a boost to their life force and vitality, allowing them to utilize high level techniques. It was first seen during the Fourth Shinobi World War, when Obito Uchiha inhabited his bestfriend Kakashi Hatake, granting him access to the late shinobi's Dōjutsu the Mangekyō Sharingan. However in this case it was temporary as when Obito returned to the Pure Land, Kakashi lost all the abilities it granted him. There can be a case where the spirit inhabits an object and only inhabits an individual upon touching the object. This is typically a forced, parasitic relationship as the spirit in question has dark, malicious intents as seen with Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, using Black Zetsu as the catalyst for possessing Madara Uchiha, however this was first and supposed only case in which a Transmigrant was also a retainer. Normally in this case, the vessel has no control over their bodies and the spirit has taken it upon themselves to transform the vessel into the image of their former life, to better facilitate their personal preference. Following the war, two known cases appeared. One in the form of Nisshō Uchiha, who was chosen to hold onto the spirit of a Kunoichi named Heisei, from the Land of Winter and the other in the form of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki who choose to inhabit the body of Kisui Iyoku, along side that of a fallen Samurai. While one is for unknown reasons and grants no known benefits nor deficits, the other has given rise to the Rinnegan once again. However when Kisui regenerated due to his Celestial Being DNA, he released Hagoromo's spirit, making Nisshō the only remaining Retainer.
