  • Overhead
rdfs:comment
  • Overhead (also overhead costs) is "the ongoing operating costs of running a business."
  • To do this, Kirby inhales any object, ability star, or regular enemy, but then holds it above his head instead of swallowing it. In this state, Kirby cannot float but can otherwise move around, and he can do either one of two things with the overhead object - put it back into his mouth or throw it. Depending on what the object is, either holding it or throwing it may have slightly different effects, but for the vast majority of objects they either have no effect or behave the way as if they were spit out, for holding and throwing respectively.
  • In the Street Fighter series, most overhead attacks are done through the use of certain special attacks or by certain command normals. These attacks usually involve the player attacking downward from a standing or grounded position. In addition, all aerial jumping attacks are classified as overhead attacks.
  • Overhead attacks bypass a low block by attacking downwards from a grounded position, while standing overhead (hence the name). Overhead attacks can be blocked high, however, and this necessity to block an attack at the correct height creates a "guessing game", where a defender must attempt to guess where the next attack is coming from, and an attacker must guess which way the opponent will block.

These attacks usually involve the player attacking downward from a standing or grounded position. In addition, all aerial jumping attacks are classified as overhead attacks. In the Street Fighter III series, each character possesses a leaping attack known as a Universal Overhead. These are executed with File:Button-D.png File:Button-D.png File:Button-xyz.png or File:Button-abc.png in Street Fighter III and Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, and with File:Button-y.png + File:Button-b.png in Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

Overhead attacks can come in the form of special attacks or unique attacks. Not every fighter character possesses an overhead unique attack, nor does every fighter possess an overhead special attack; however, most characters possess at least one or the other, and every character can also perform a jumping attack, which will also bypass a low block.
