His wife remains pregnant for six years, until she realizes she will not live much longer and commands that the child be delivered with a Caesarian, an operation that in those days cost the life of the mother. When the child, Völsung, was delivered he was already well grown and he “kissed his mother before she died.”
- De Rerir was een berg in Beleriand die in de de noordwestelijke Ered Luin lag. De berg lag in Thargelion, het land van Caranthir. De Grote Gelion ontsprong in deze berg. Het meer Helevorn lag aan de voet van de Rerir. Caranthir had aan de westelijke voet van de berg een groot fort gebouwd. Er kwamen vaak veel Dwergen langs dit fort als ze met de Noldor handelden. In de Dagor Bragollach werd het fort verwoest.
