(DS9 short story: "Second star to the right...", DS9 episodes: "Shadows and Symbols", "Prodigal Daughter") After accompanying Benjamin Sisko and Jake Sisko to DS9, Ezri Dax planned to return to the Destiny. Sisko convinced her to stay aboard DS9 as its counselor and the Destiny departed without her to the Kalandra sector with the 7th Fleet. (DS9 episode: "Afterimage", DS9 short story: "Second star to the right...") In 2376 and 2377, the Destiny was one of many Sovereign-class vessels which helped to repel a Borg invasion of the Alpha Quadrant. (TNG video games: Armada, Armada II) In 2381, after Ezri Dax had been promoted to Captain and commanding officer of the USS Aventine, she reflected upon this incident during the Borg Invasion of 2381, questioning her command abilities. Then first officer Sam Bowers insisted that it was her decisiveness in these situations that made her a qualified commander. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)
