  • Phoenia Nui was originally discovered by Nortre, the spirit that created Nortre Nui, but he abandoned it since the area seemed unstable.Later, a team of Toa, the Toa Phoenia, rediscovered it and built a city on the large cliff. They brought some Matoran with them and named the city "Stalagia", which meant in the Matoran language,"City of Stilts". The Toa each got their own region,or burrow,and named it. Two burrows went unclaimed and were simply called Northern and Southern Stalagia. The Toa later vanished without a trace, and the Matoran later named the city "Phoenia Nui" in honor of the great Toa team.Northern and Southern Stalagia became Northern and Southern Phoenia, yet the other burrows' names were kept.
