| abstract | - Charlie Croughwell bears some resemblance to Fox, and is actually slightly shorter. In the scene where Marty is chased through Courthouse Square by Biff's gang, Fox did much of the skateboarding on level ground, while Croughwell did the leaps and falls. Croughwell's most spectacular stunt in the film was the scene where Marty walks up the hood, through the interior, and back over the trunk of a speeding convertible. With skillful editing, the intercut of Fox's and Croughwell's footage made it appear as if all the work had been done by one person. In Part III, Charlie Croughwell, R.L. Tolbert, and Jennifer Watson worked together as Marty, Doc and Clara, respectively, for the train hijacking in 1885. A close friend of Fox, Croughwell served as Fox's stunt double in subsequent films. In addition to work on Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III (which featured chases through Courthouse Square in 2015 and 1885, respectively), Croughwell has been in Light of Day, The Secret of My Succe$s, Bright Lights, Big City, The Hard Way, and other of Fox's films.
- Croughwells daughter Callie and his sons Cameron and Joshua Croughwell are also stunt performers. He is a close friend and regular stunt double for actor Michael J. Fox in most of his projects. In 2002 he was nominated for a Taurus World Stunt Award for best stunt coordination/ second unit direction for his work in Tim Burton's remake Planet of the Apes. Beside his stunt career he has also worked as stand-in for Michael J. Fox in most of his productions such as Family Ties (1984-1989), The American President (1996), and Spin City (1996-2001). Croughwell also works occasionally as a second unit director for films such as What Dreams May Come (1998) and Big Momma's House 2 (2006). Among his stunt performing and stunt coordinating resume are films such as Back to the Future (1985, with Christopher Lloyd, Ivy Bethune, Sachi Parker, and stunts by Bernie Pock and Spiro Razatos), The Secret of my Succe$s (1987), Masters of the Universe (1987, with Frank Langella, Meg Foster, Robert Duncan McNeill, Anthony De Longis, Robert Towers, and stunts by Janet Brady, Tony Brubaker, Doc Charbonneau, and Clint Lilley), Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
