  • The 2010 NBA Draft was held on June 24, 2010 at the Washington Mutual Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur college basketball players and other first-time eligible players, such as players from non-North American leagues. The draft was broadcast on ESPN at 7:00 PM (EDT). The NBA announced that 100 players, including 70 players from U.S. colleges and institutions and 30 international players, have filed as early entry candidates for the 2010 NBA Draft. The Washington Wizards, who had obtaining the first selection, won the NBA Draft Lottery on May 22. The Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Nets (Brooklyn Nets) were second and third respectively. The Washington Wizards used the first overall pick to draft John Wall, a sophomore from the University of Kentucky. The Philadelphia 76ers used the second pick to draft Evan Turner, a senior from University of Ohio State, and the New Jersey Nets (Brooklyn Nets) used the third pick to draft Derrick Favors, a sophomore from Georgia Tech University. The 2010 NBA draft marked the first appearance of the Brooklyn Nets.
