| abstract | - Benedict Valorum was a member of the politically influential House Valorum and the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the Great Rim Lines War. During the war, Valorum worked with Colonel Cos Jonathan Dashin and Jedi Master Artus Zeratul to put together the strategy that eventually defeated the Third Sith Empire and the Mandalorian Clans during the final battle of the war. After the war and under Valorum’s leadership, with help from Dashin, the Republic began to rebuild itself as it had hoped to after the Great Territorial War. Once the Corellian Trade Spine and the Hydian Way were tightly secured by the Republic, commerce began to pick up once again. The economy grew stronger and the stock market soared to heights not seen since before the Mandalorian Wars, as the people once again had faith in the Republic. This led to high approval ratings for Valorum throughout the rest of his tenure. Five years after the end of the war, the United Pirate Crusades broke out. The Republic was only involved in one battle at Coruscant, and during the early hours of the battle the leader of the United Mobus Resistance, Carleton Mobus, demanded a meeting with Valorum to negotiate for relief on outlying star systems. Hoping it would resolve the conflict, Valorum agreed, though he was assassinated after walking into a trap, which allowed Mobus to bombard Coruscant for several hours. The Valorum family line continued on for many years. Valorum was remembered through the accomplishments of his ancestors, three of whom went on to become Supreme Chancellors as well. Those three Valorums were Tarsus Valorum during the New Sith Wars, Eixes Valorum nine hundred years later, and Finis Valorum during the Invasion of Utapau. Valorum was remembered by many, including Senator Malus Palpatine, during the Invasion of Utapau.
