Joining one of the world’s numerous pirate bands, he managed to make his way off-planet, only to desert his fellows during their first raid. Form there, he eventually hooked up with the Blackguards. Initially playing the role of a dumb thug, Torch’s smarter side began to show through after he took command of his lance following its commander’s death. This saw him promoted to commander of a lance within Major Weiss’ Alpha Company, and assigned a new mech. Furthermore, on occasion, he has acted as a bodyguard to the major herself, both in and out of his mech.
