The series was introduced in 2003 and discontinued after 2012. The Jet King series was a sort of homage to the "pawnshop" copy guitars from the 1960s which Ibanez, among others, produced. The JTK1 was the initial model which was introduced in 2003. It has a body shape which is vaguely similar to the AX series or Gibson SG shape, but with asymmetric rounded "horns". It resembles a sixties Teisco MJ-2 or a FujiGen-built EJ-2. All other Jet King models, starting with the JTK2 which came out in 2004 have a different (but similar) body which more closely resembles a Fender Jazzmaster or Jaguar. The Jet King line was basically discontinued in 2010, but the body lived on in the ORM1/ ORM1L Omar Rodriguez-Lopez signature models. The discontinuation of the ORM1 after 2012 marked the end of the Jet King era.
