Run in torrential rain and thunderstorms, the race was stopped after only 31 Laps, instead of the scheduled 56, on safety grounds. As less than 75% of the scheduled laps had been completed, half-points were awarded. The race was won by Brawn-Mercedes driver Jenson Button from pole. Nick Heidfeld finished second for BMW Sauber with Toyota driver Timo Glock completing the podium.
