The league was originally known as the Continental Hockey Association. The league was renamed on Labor Day 2011. The league played under the ESHL moniker for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 season. The league disbanded when most of the league members moved to either the United States Premier Hockey League or the Eastern Hockey League.
